Health Care

Our healthcare vision is rooted in abundance: build more care, faster.

  • Stabilize Apple Health (Medicaid) amid federal volatility. Create a “coverage continuity” plan if federal policy shrinks subsidies/funding. Be prepared to increase funding if needed.

  • Grow the caregiving workforce (with accountability). It’s all about incentives and opportunities.

  • Shift more frontline care to nurses and nurse practitioners. Expand full practice authority and care-team models so advanced practice nurses can provide more primary care, urgent care, and chronic disease management. Increase nurse-led clinics in underserved areas, pairing them with telehealth and collaborative physician support when needed.

  • Implement the 2025 Behavioral Health realignment. Fully execute E2SHB 1813 (2025) to tighten network adequacy metrics, standardize crisis-service delegation, and right-size rates when regions add (or lose) capacity; publish a public dashboard on access and wait times by region.

  • Modernize health planning / trim bottlenecks. Use SSB 5568 (2025) to refresh the State Health Resources Strategy: map gaps by region, leverage the all-payer claims database, and align certificate-of-need decisions to data on access, quality, and cost—speeding approvals in proven shortage areas.

  • Reduce administrative waste. Reference: Colorado HB22-1236 (2022) – Primary Care Alternative Payment Models.
